Petín (Ourense), February 15, 2023.- The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to the green transition and the digitalization of rural councils, with investments that, in Petín, exceed 250,000 euros through three ministries.
Emilio González went to the City Council of Petín this morning. There he held a meeting with the mayor, Raquel Bautista, and with the municipal corporation, to present the lines authorized by the Government for the municipalities, supervise the state investments in this municipality and know their demands and opinions. Emilio González put Petín as an example of the government’s commitment to small municipalities, “which are called to be protagonists in the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, to achieve the objectives of the demographic challenge.”
Public lighting efficiency
In the same green transition line, the subdelegate included the grants granted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Energy Diversification IDAE. This aid amounted to 100,335 euros and with it the City Council faced the energy improvement of the municipal lighting of this City Council.
The action, already completed, consisted of the replacement of traditional type luminaires with LED type luminaires of greater performance and efficiency, along with the replacement of control panels. With this, the electricity consumption of this municipality decreased by 70%.
High Speed Internet Coverage
Emilio González also advanced the impact of the investments in digitalization that the Government is implementing, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, and that will also reach Petín. This action is part of the UNICO-Broadband Program, within the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. He explained that the UNICO-Broadband Program will facilitate broadband connection with ultra-fast speed to 262 families and companies in Petín, which in practice means the complete digitalization of the municipal territory providing access with speeds of 300Mbs.
Likewise, the Subdelegate transferred to the corporation both the rural Post plan that will allow the Post procedures to be brought closer to the homes, and the creation of Justice Offices in rural areas that will give visibility to the magistrates. They will be able to perform functions without the rural inhabitants having to travel, thus promoting the digitalization and habitability of rural services.
