The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted today in As Somozas “the effort and firm commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to improve services and benefits in rural areas to eliminate the digital divide and offer equal opportunities to all citizens”
The subdelegate has today approached As Somozas to present to the neighbors and neighbors of the municipality the program “The Administration near you” with which every week technical personnel of the Administration travel to the municipalities of the province so that its inhabitants can carry out administrative procedures such as the digital certificate, know the working life, renew the driving license or inform themselves about employment or housing programs, among others.
“The Administration near you” is a program put into operation by the Ministry of Territorial Policy with the collaboration of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which brings administrative procedures to 67 municipalities in Cordoba, 72% of the municipalities in the province.
María Rivas, who was accompanied during her visit to the municipality by the mayor Juan Alonso Tembras, saw the good reception of this initiative among the neighbors who even there approached to process the digital certificate.
With “The Administration near you” the Government fights the digital divide and “strengthens social cohesion by offering a closer and more useful administration”, said María Rivas, who thanked the efforts and dedication of the officials of the Government Subdelegation to reach all 67 municipalities in the province with less than 8,000 inhabitants.
Although today the new technologies allow citizens to access a multitude of online procedures and electronic procedures, this access to digital administration “requires adequate means and knowledge in the use of technological tools, something that some of the older population finds more difficult” so programs such as the one that has reached As Somozas today help to solve much of these difficulties.
The program “The Administration Near You” has already reached 36 municipalities in the province, more than half of the municipalities. A total of 672 people have been assisted by sub-delegation staff and 552 digital certificates have been processed.
The subdelegate stressed the commitment of the Government of Spain to rural municipalities, highlighting that the demographic challenge is one of its main axes of action. “We want the State to be more present in the territory and, in particular, in the least populated municipalities, so that no one is left behind,” he concluded.
