The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, thanked today the work of the radio-trained people who collaborate with Civil Protection during the ceremony of delivery of diplomas granted to members of this collective from all over the province that are part of the National Emergency Radio Network (REMER). The event, held this morning in the Government Subdelegation, was attended by four of the eleven people honored this year: Francisco Hermida Platero, José Veiga Méndez, Manuel Pérez Eijo and Luis López Rodríguez.
Isabel Rodríguez expressed the recognition “of the Government and all the neighbors of the province for your generosity, collaborating in an altruistic but, at the same time, very professional way with the General Directorate of Civil Protection.” This respect highlighted the responsibility of the task and the commitment to society expressed by the members of REMER in their actions, which can be considered a basic support for communications in emergency situations, in the service of citizen security.
Likewise, the subdelegate claimed the figure of radio amateurs and encouraged the winners to continue their work through the National Emergency Radio Network, in some cases for more than thirty-five years. At the same time, he took the opportunity to highlight the importance of the Civil Protection service in the face of any crisis or danger situation, such as the previous health pandemic or even the War in Ukraine, “attending to the needs of citizens”.
The Ministry of the Interior, through the General Directorate of Civil Protection, awarded eleven diplomas this year in recognition of the work of so many other Lucenses that are part of the National Emergency Radio Network, which is an alternative to the usual system of communications in cases of emergency.
Up to 35 years of collaboration
One of the honorees received the diploma in gratitude for 35 years of collaboration with Civil Protection. This is Francisco Hermida Platero, from Lugo, who joined the REMER in 1987. José Veiga Méndez, a neighbor of Lugo; Manuel Pérez Eijo, a native of San Cibrao; and Luis López Rodríguez, from Monforte de Lemos, were recognized for the support given for 30 years, since they joined in 1992.
In addition, although they could not attend the event, diplomas were awarded for 30 years of service to Berta Guerra Rubal, from Mondoñedo; Saturno Sendín López, from Abadín; Luis Rojgados Saavedra, from Lugo; Manuel Rojgados Saavedra, from Lugo; María Castro Darriba, from Lugo; and Jesús Amor Puga, from Ribadeo. Also, for 25 jobs, Sarria’s neighbor, José Alvarez Rosa, was honored with a diploma. Currently, the REMER has the collaboration of 47 radioworkers in the province of Lugo.
