Ourense, January 25, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González celebrates the good news that today there are many Galician pensioners who are seeing reflected in their bank account the revaluation of their benefits. “An increase of 8.5% with which the Spanish Government guarantees the purchasing power of these people in a context marked by high inflation,” says González.
More than 100,000 Ourensans will benefit from this important measure from the executive of Pedro Sánchez - 106,694 people in the province will benefit from this increase, until reaching an average pension of 880.91 euros, which is about 74 euros more per month than last year. From the Subdelegation they point out that in the province of Ourense as a whole, this increase represents a “total annual outlay of 94 million euros, about 8 million more than last year”.
A measure made possible by the current government’s shielding of pensioners’ purchasing power. With the Government of Pedro Sánchez pensions are rising in the province “up to 74 euros, while with the PP the increase would not reach 4 euros”, says González, since, if the annual revaluation of 0.25% set by the PP in 2013 had been applied, the average retirement pension would have risen less than 50 euros per year.
The average pension in Galicia amounts to 1,160.85 euros and for the State as a whole the average pension reaches 1,189.12 euros.
Since the arrival of Pedro Sánchez to the Government, the revaluation exceeds 25%, since in 2018 the average retirement pension in Galicia was 927.78 euros.
