The Government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, claimed in a visit to the City of Mondariz the commitment of the Government with the municipalism and the support for the green transition of the small municipalities. There, José Miñones met with the mayor, Xosé Emilio Barros, to address the different actions of the Government in the municipality, know their demands and present the actions that the central Executive allocates to the municipalities within the Recovery Plan. Currently, the Executive has investments in Mondariz worth 1.7 million euros, among which stands out the aid of 1.45 million from the IDAE (Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving) of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, to finance the improvement of municipal energy efficiency.
During the meeting, José Miñones stressed that the City of Mondariz is an example of the Government’s commitment to improve public services and the quality of life of the villas of Galicia. He stressed that the Government of Pedro Sánchez is committed to revitalization in small municipalities and to the creation of equipment, environmental efficiency and infrastructures that impact on the quality of life of the neighborhood and allow to attract more population to these centers.
Investments
The delegate reviewed with the mayor the situation of the projects in which the Government and the City of Mondariz collaborate, in issues such as broadband extension of Internet access or mobility, among others.
The two already resolved calls for proposals of the UN-Broadband Plan developed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation include projects in 189 areas of Mondariz, which bring the ultra-fast internet connection to 407 families and companies, with an estimated investment of 15,000 euros.
The state investments will also make possible the improvement and expansion of the Coviña - Laredo trail, thanks to the signing of an agreement between the City Council and the Miño - Sil Hydrographic Confederation, which assumes 80% of the cost of the work (which means 4,535.68 euros).
The €1,687,777.28 of IDAE aid is helping to tackle six energy efficiency improvement lines in Mondariz:
• Energy rehabilitation of the Municipal School of Music of Mondariz
• Technical project of energy rehabilitation of the Town Hall
• Energy saving and efficiency project in the parishes of Lougaros, Sabaxáns and Gargamala
• Energy saving and efficiency project in the public lighting of the parishes of Riofrio, Vilar and Frades
• Energy saving and efficiency project in public lighting in the parish of Mondariz
• Energy saving and efficiency project in public lighting in the parishes of Vilasobroso, Mouriscado and Meirol
In addition, Mondariz receives 211,275 euros from the local Public Buildings Rehabilitation Promotion Program (PIREP). This money will allow him to face the integral reform of the old unitary school of Redo, in the parish of Vilar, to turn it into a socio-community center.
In addition, the Government transfers resources to Mondariz, within the State Pact against Gender Violence, to finance actions for the eradication of violence against women and the promotion of equality.
During the meeting, the delegate reviewed with the mayor the main lines of aid that the Government allocates to the municipalities from its own budgets and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. He claimed that “municipalities are a fundamental axis of the Plan, and are essential to ensure that these funds reach the citizens and are executed in full.”
José Miñones transferred to the mayor the opportunity of the aid program to buy or rent housing for young people in the small municipalities. This program will allow young people to have grants of up to € 10,800 for the acquisition of a habitual home, or 60% of the rental income.
The delegate also encouraged the government team to continue taking advantage of the calls for the Recovery Plan for territorial transformation and fight against depopulation.
