The Government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, accompanied by the Secretary General of Territorial Coordination of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Miryam Álvarez, visited today the municipality of Malpartida de Plasencia with the aim of getting to know first-hand the service "The Administration near you", promoted by the Government of Spain since 2022. This initiative aims to bring public services closer to citizens, especially in rural areas.
During the visit, Quintana and Álvarez held a meeting with the mayor of Malpartida de Plasencia, Raúl Barrado, to analyze the impact of this initiative in the municipality and in the region. In Extremadura, a total of 227 of the 247 municipalities of between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants have participated in this program that seeks to guarantee equal access to public administration.
The government delegate highlighted the importance of "The Administration near you" as a fundamental tool to improve the quality of life of citizens in rural areas. "This project not only brings administrative services closer to citizens, but also encourages local development and citizen participation," said Quintana.
For her part, the Secretary General of Territorial Coordination has highlighted the commitment of the Government of Spain to depopulation and the development of rural areas. "It is essential that all citizens, regardless of where they live, have access to the services they need. With this initiative, we are working to bring services closer to our people and make life easier for citizens," he said.
The visit included a tour of the facilities of the municipality where the services of "The Administration near you" are being implemented that have allowed citizens to know the resources available through this program.
With this visit, the Government of Spain reaffirms its commitment to the balanced development of all regions and attention to the needs of the smallest municipalities, ensuring that public administration is accessible to all.
