The government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, has today carried out a visit to various localities in the region that have been affected by the recent floods. During his tour, he has been in Quintana de la Serena, Valle de la Serena, Puebla del Maestre, Maguilla, Medellín and Mengabril, where he has been able to observe at first hand the damages caused by this meteorological phenomenon.
The delegate expressed the deep concern of the Government of Spain regarding the situation in the different areas of the region affected. "We are here to show our solidarity and commitment to those affected. Our objective is to ensure the safety of people and that the necessary measures are taken to mitigate the damage and support, within our competences, the recovery of the affected areas," he said.
As he did last Monday in the municipality of Jarandilla de la Vera, during his visit, Quintana has met with local authorities with whom he has known first-hand the problems and damages caused. Quintana has reiterated the Government’s willingness to collaborate effectively.
The Government of Spain is working in coordination with local, provincial and regional administrations to ensure that the necessary resources are channeled in an agile and efficient way. At 6:00 p.m., in Extremadura there were about twenty roads that were affected by traffic cuts
