A total of 71,600 employees from Extremadura will benefit from the agreement approved by the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, which establishes the Minimum Interprofessional Wage for 2025. This basic remuneration stands, with the increase approved today, at 1,184 euros per month in 14 payments. It therefore represents a perception of 700 euros per year more than that established in the previous amount.
Extremadura is the Spanish autonomous community most benefited by the increase in the SMI: 20.08% of employees will perceive this increase in their payrolls. In total, 71,600 people from Extremadura have seen their income grow by 61% since 2018; while inflation has risen in this period by 23%, so that the beneficiaries would have improved 38% in their purchasing power.
Similarly, for a community such as Extremadura with a significant primary sector in the regional economy, it is noteworthy that 31% of the beneficiaries belong to the agricultural sector, 14.3% to the Services, 5.9% to the Industry and 3.4% to the Construction.
With this measure approved by the Government, some 2.4 million working people benefit directly from the increase in the amount. 65.8% (1,579,000) of the total are women. 26.8% of the recipients are young people, between 16 and 24 years old.
