The headquarters of the Government Delegation in Extremadura today hosted the signing of the collaboration protocol to undertake the necessary actions for the eradication of the Mexican nenúfar in the Guadiana River.
After the first agreement reached on October 15, today the final document has been initialled in an event in which the president of the Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation (CHG), Samuel Moraleda, participated; the mayor of Badajoz, Ignacio Gragera; and the Minister of Agriculture of the Junta de Extremadura, Mercedes Morán.
The government delegate has pointed out that this is an important action to which an investment of around 25 million euros will be allocated. The environmental impact statement is currently awaited and the forecast is that the work could start from October 2025.
Quintana has reiterated its gratitude to the three administrations for the willingness to reach this agreement in the fight against this invasive plant. “It is essential that possible future actions are always carried out with the collaboration of all the affected administrations.”
