The Secretary General of Penitentiary Institutions, Ángel Luis Ortiz, has appointed Rosa María Carrasco as the new director of the Penitentiary Center of Cáceres. Carrasco takes over from Nahum Álvarez, who assumes the direction of the prison of Almería.
Graduated in Teaching at EGB, Carrasco joined the Corps of Assistants of Penitentiary Institutions in 1985 and the Special Corps in 2001. During her professional career, she has held different jobs in the areas of Internal Service and offices in the penitentiary centers of Carabanchel, Yeserías, Toledo, Cáceres I and Cáceres II and has served as an educator in the Penitentiary Center of Badajoz. Between 2010 and 2014 she was in charge of the Subdirectorate of Security of the Penitentiary Center of Cáceres, where she has been deputy director of Régime until today.
For his part, Nahum Álvarez, graduated in Sociology from the University of Wuppertal (Germany) and in Law from the UNED, joined the Higher Corps of Prison Institution Technicians in 1987. He has been deputy director of Treatment of the prison of Córdoba and has been in charge of the penitentiary centers of Albolote, Murcia II and Cáceres II, an establishment that he managed since 2019 and for which he had already been responsible between 1994 and 1999.
