The general director of SEPES, Leire Iglesias, held a meeting on Thursday with the government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, to inform him of relevant actions that the public entity, dependent on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, is developing in Extremadura, both in the residential and industrial sectors.
In his speech at a press conference with the government delegate, Leire Iglesias referred to the advances in Los Viñallas, residential activity in Navalmoral de la Mata; the participation of SEPES in a plot of residential use on Avenida Juan Pablo II in Cáceres; the latest actions in the Southwest European Logistics Platform of Badajoz and in the expansion of the El Prado polygon in Mérida.
On the progress in the procedures for the development of Los Viñallas, an action that is part of the Housing Plan for Affordable Rent and where it is planned that up to 120 homes are built for affordable or social rent, Leire Iglesias has pointed out that SEPES has sent the Junta de Extremadura and the City of Navalmoral de la Mata the agreement for its signature.
The development of Los Viñallas will respond to the housing needs that will arise as a result of the future implementation of the lithium battery gigafactory in the municipality of Moralo. An action linked also to the actions that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda develops within the PVAA to face the demographic challenge in the rural world and for which an investment of € 16M is planned.
Residential performance in Cáceres
Another of the performances to which Leire Iglesias has referred is the one that will take place on Avenida Juan Pablo II in Cáceres. It is a finalist plot of urban land, buildable and residential use for collective housing. SEPES is responsible for 35.76% of this plot in which in the future it will be possible to build protected housing.
Leire Iglesias highlighted that SEPES has asked both the owners of the land and the City of Cáceres for the segregation of this plot for affordable and social housing, intended both for purchase and rent and in which SEPES would be able to promote 35 affordable homes.
South West European Logistics Platform of Badajoz
Regarding the Southwest European Logistics Platform of Badajoz, Leire Iglesias has highlighted that the Board of Directors of SEPES approved on July 17 new prices for the seven plots that the public entity has available in this important logistics node. These are seven plots with an average price of the industrial-logistic soil of 70€/ m². SEPES will be bidding for these plots in the coming weeks.
Leire Iglesias has stressed that he is “very aware of the importance of the involvement of other institutions so that they can be activated, so it was in the last legislature, so SEPES now assumes its part in the commitment to dispose and offer the soil so that it can be developed”
SEPES has invested around 51 million euros in the 515 hectares in the Southwest European Logistics Platform of Badajoz.
The Prado Expansion in Merida
As for the industrial estate El Prado de Mérida, the director of SEPES has highlighted that the entity has approved new marketing prices of the available plots, prices that are lower than those approved in 2022, the drop represents a reduction of about 15% in response to a demand from the mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez Osuna.
The investment made by SEPES in this action, whose gross area amounts to 44.7 hectares, of which approximately 200,000 m2 are offered
Leire Iglesias has highlighted that there will be more actions in the region and that the "shared challenges" that the Spanish Government can develop in Extremadura will be announced and continue working with several municipalities in the region that are demanding projects.
