The Government delegation in Extremadura has today hosted the ceremony of handing over the Medals to the Merit of Civil Protection corresponding to 2023. At the event, the Government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, presided over the ceremony of awarding the medals to the merit of Civil Protection that took place at the headquarters of the Government Delegation. Quintana, in her speech, stressed that “the most important thing we have, our lives and our well-being, depend fundamentally on the solidarity and committed management of our collective resources; that is, of the common, the public.”
The delegate has highlighted the role of public workers not only in times of emergency, but in the preparation of the resources and mechanisms necessary for current emergencies.
Decorated
In the bronze category with white badge, these decorations have been awarded to Diego Alberto Casquero Arias, Inspector of the National Police Force, currently responsible for the Prevention and Reaction Unit of Badajoz and to Encarnación Utrera Hidalgo, Doctor in Chemical Sciences from the University of Granada and with a place of titled Superior in Planning of Technological Risks in the Civil Protection Unit of the Government Delegation in Extremadura.
On the other hand, the Merit of Civil Protection medal in bronze category with red badge has been awarded posthumously to José Antonio García Romo, who was head of the Provincial Information Brigade of Cáceres.
The bronze medals with blue badge have fallen on two local police of Cáceres, Benedicto Cacho Morales, head of the Local Police Force of the city of Cáceres and Chief Inspector of Local Police and Juan Ignacio Blanco Palacios, agent of the local Police Force of Cáceres.
Finally, the Emergency Intervention Battalion I of the UME has received the silver medal with blue badge for its intervention in the multiple fires that took place in mid-July in Extremadura.
It should be remembered that these awards recognize activities of protection, operative or preventive, of people or goods before emergency situations in levels of serious risk, catastrophe or public calamity.
