Today begins the Special Operation Semana Santa 2024 where the General Directorate of Traffic has planned about 277,800 movements in Extremadura during Holy Week. Of the total displacements, 166,800 belong to the province of Badajoz and 111,000 to that of Cáceres.
Operation Special Holy Week 2024 is composed of two phases. The first phase, Operation Departure, begins at 15:00 hours today, March 22 until 00:00 hours on Sunday, March 24, which includes the weekend preceding Holy Week. The second, more important than the previous phase by volume and movements of vehicles throughout the road network, will begin from midday on Wednesday, March 27, with the second Operation Departure, and will include Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28. This phase will end at 00:00 hours on Monday, April 1, with Operation Return, which will take place on Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1.
Roads with higher traffic intensity.
In the province of Badajoz, the roads with the greatest traffic intensity are the A-5, A-66 and the N-430. Also, in the province of Cáceres the roads are A-5, A-66 and EXA1.
