Today, two agreements have been signed in the presence of the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, the Secretary General of Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture, Iñaqui Carnicero and the Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Housing of the Junta de Extremadura, Manuel Martín, which will allow the promotion of 97 energy-efficient homes for social and affordable rent. MIVAU will contribute 4.8 million of the 14.1 million euros budgeted for the implementation of these projects, divided into 24 actions, from the NextGenerationEU funds within the framework of the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan (PRTR).
The first agreement includes aid for the promotion of 94 homes in 21 performances in Albalá, Montánchez, Cedillo, Azuaga, Don Benito, Herrera de Alcántara, Solana de los Barros, Serrejón, Guadajira (Lobón), Higuera de Llerena, Toril, Valencia del Mombuey, Valdehornillos (Don Benito), Cachorrilla, Arroyo de la Luz, Talaván, Casar de Cáceres, Cabins of Mérida, Valdehornillos (Don Benito).
The second agreement, which also has the signature of the mayor of El Redondo, includes aid for the promotion of three homes in as many rehabilitation actions in that municipality, which will be carried out by its own City Council, also under public promotion.
New agreements
Through this aid plan, MIVAU aims to finance the increase in the public housing stock for social rent or affordable housing, through new construction promotions on publicly owned land. These homes will be part of the public park for a minimum period of 50 years and their consumption of non-renewable primary energy must be at least 20% lower than the requirements required in the Technical Building Code. The works must be completed by June 30, 2026.
For this programme, endowed with 1 billion euros, 11,525 million euros were already transferred to the Autonomous Community of Extremadura in the year 2022, and the financial commitment has been formalized from the annuality of the year 2023 for the same amount, having transferred to date the amount of 7,286 million euros corresponding to that annuality. The assistance provided is up to €700 per square metre of useful living space with a maximum of €50,000 per dwelling.
To date, five agreements and two addenda of this program have been signed in Extremadura for the financing of 380 homes for social and affordable rent in 18 actions, with a contribution of NG funds of 18 million euros. In this way, with the two new agreements, the construction of a total of 477 homes has been formalized in 42 actions in the community, with a contribution of NG funds of 22,859 million euros.
