The government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, visited today the Logistics Platform of the Southwest Europe where he assured that the current electric power installed in this space has sufficient supply capacity to host business and industrial investments interested in installing in the area. Quintana recalled that the current Rio Caya electricity substation is a strategic infrastructure that has sufficient guarantees for the new logistics space, being in project a second substation to increase capacity in future actions.
Currently, this substation has two positions for interconnection with Portugal through the double-circuit airline between Alcaçova and Badajoz. “The current substation has 25 megawatts, but right now the demand for consumption does not reach 30% and has the possibility of tripling. However, there is a project of Red Eléctrica de España to make a new substation that guarantees and gives certainty to the installation of companies here.”
With this visit accompanied by technicians from the area of Energy and Industry of the Delegation of the Government in Extremadura, Quintana wanted to know those actions that are the competence of the General Administration of the State and show the commitment of the Government of Spain to continue advancing in projects and investments that favor the economic, industrial and social development of Extremadura. “I come to provide certainties for companies that want to establish themselves because the development of this logistics platform is of interest to the Government of Spain.”
