The Government Delegation in Extremadura will deliver next Wednesday, November 22 at 11:00 hours, the recognition “Meninas 2023”. This year the event will be held in the Espacio UEx event hall in Cáceres (formerly the Institute of Modern Languages).
The decorations, three in total, will fall on the following people: Maria José Pulido Pérez, teacher and former equality councillor of the City of Cáceres; Juana Merino Marceñido, Lawyer of the Administration of Justice of the Court of Violence against Women Nº1 of Badajoz and Purification Salas Méndez, lawyer and currently adviser on issues of equality and gender violence of the Government delegation in Extremadura.
In addition to the three decorations, the Government Delegation will deliver four Special Mentions. These mentions will be received by: José María Escobar Bazaga, Deputy Inspector of the National Police of Badajoz in the Family and Women’s Unit; Marcial Flores Morón, Plasencia Local Police in the Women and Minors section, posthumously for Marcelino Gil García, Captain of the Civil Guard in the Judicial Police Organic Unit of Cáceres and the Equal Rights section of eldiario.es Extremadura.
The event will be attended by 12 students from the Professional Dance Conservatory of Cáceres, where they will premiere a piece of contemporary dance entitled “Meninas Libres”. This work is made expressly for the delivery of these awards, created by the playwright Marce Solís and with the choreographies of the professors Amparo Jiménez and Maria Adelina Sánchez.
It should be remembered that these awards recognize the work of people, institutions and groups in Extremadura who have stood out for their commitment to equality between men and women and in the fight against gender violence.
