The subdelegate of the Government in Cáceres, José Antonio Garcia and the Provincial Deputy Head of Traffic, Carlos Muñoz, have delivered this morning the STARS accreditations of the General Directorate of Traffic to two schools in the province of Cáceres for promoting safe and sustainable mobility in the movements of students to the educational center.
The awarded centers are the I.E.S. Ambroz Valley of the town of Hervás and the C.E.I.P. García Siñeriz de Miajadas.
The subdelegate thanked the participation of the centers in this program “because everything that is to favor mobility is simpler in the populations and safer makes it easier for all citizens to live, starting with the student community and their families.” Finally, José Antonio García has encouraged more municipalities to join this European initiative.
In addition to the subdelegate of the Government in Cáceres and the Provincial Deputy Head of Traffic, the mayor of Miajadas, Antonio Díaz, the Chief Captain of the Traffic Subsector of Cáceres, César Quijada and the directors of both schools, Montserrat Pérez of the IES Valle de Ambroz and José Fernández of the CEIP García Siñeriz, have attended.
Objectives project STARS
The purpose of this initiative is to reduce the dependency of the car on the trips between the house and the educational center, increasing the number of students who move actively, and achieve a modal change in the habits of travel; increase the autonomy of children, enhance the confidence, civics and health of children and young people to create more livable cities; create a network of exchange of experiences to promote and extend the adoption of the program and promote sustainable mobility and transformation of the city with the active collaboration of the whole community.
