The Government Delegation in Extremadura, today hosted the celebration of the ceremony of delivery of Medals to the Merit of Civil Protection, which this year fell to the Head of Civil Protection Service of the Junta of Extremadura, Pedro Monzón and in the work team of the email mailbox consultascovid19.extremadura@correo.gob.es.
The first of the winners, Pedro Monzón, received the Medal of Merit of Civil Protection in his bronze category with blue badge for his extensive trajectory and for his coordination of the action groups assigned during serious emergencies for the region such as the forest fires of the summer of 2022, the floods of last December or the recent fire of Pinofranqueado in May of the current year.
For its part, the Covid19 Consultations work team received the Medal of Merit for Civil Protection in the bronze and white distinctive category in recognition of the outstanding work of public service, dedication to citizenship and commitment, carried out in the field of civil protection during pandemic and health crisis.
This team, made up of ten people, whose work began in March 2020, received in November 2021 the European Good Practice Certificate from the European Public Sector Awards for its work in attending citizens’ consultations in the face of the multiple casuistry caused by the health crisis and the numerous and incessant regulations published. During its management, 13,000 inquiries were answered individually in times not exceeding 24 hours.
To close the event, the government delegate, Francisco Mendoza, dedicated a few words of recognition to the winners and highlighted the importance of the National Civil Protection System “and it is very important that the citizens are aware that it works, that the task of preparation, dedication, involvement and commitment that it implies is known.”
He also had words and recognition in particular for each of the winners, whose work he highlighted and thanked.
