The government delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza, held a meeting today with members of the General Community of Users of the Orellana Canal who conveyed their concern about the summer use of hydraulic infrastructures, ditches and canals, as a bathing area.
In this regard, the delegate showed his commitment to be extremely vigilant in the network of canals and ditches of Las Vegas del Guadiana, whose use is specific to irrigation work and never as a bathing area given the very high danger that this inappropriate use entails for the population, in many cases, minors.
Thus, the ROCA teams of the Civil Guard will be especially attentive to situations such as these trying to prevent them from happening and, if so, establishing the corresponding sanction.
The meeting was attended by the president of the community and president of the Community of Irrigators of the Orellana Canal, Luis Gutiérrez; the vice-president, Saturnino de la Nativity; the secretary, José Vicente Ruíz and the legal advisor of the same, Pedro García.
