The government delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza, said today that the Government of Spain "has not abandoned the A-81 motorway project (Badajoz-Cordoba-Espiel), whose processing continues without having suffered any fundamental alteration."
In this regard, Mendoza took the step today on the statements made in this regard by the Popular Party in which the Government of Spain is accused of having abandoned this project so important for Extremadura. The delegate made these statements after a meeting held this morning with the head of the Road Demarcation.
The delegate also recalled that it was “precisely” this government that rescued a project “on which no action had been carried out in the years of previous government, 2011-2018”.
“I want to clarify that the Government has never abandoned that project and the procedures that are being carried out continue, something that the People’s Party is well aware of because it asked a question in the parliamentary seat to which on February 15, the Government replied expressing its willingness to continue with it.”
At the moment, the informative study complied with the public exposure process, to which the corresponding allegations were presented; and from there the Road Demarcation prepared a technical report that has already been sent to the competent media body to issue the Environmental Impact Statement, essential to continue with the project.
“We talk about 201 km and 905 meters of route and from there, according to the report issued, the necessary adaptations will be made to continue the process and put it to tender, once the construction projects of the different sections have been drafted,” said the delegate.
In conclusion, Francisco Mendoza reiterated that “the will of the Government is to continue with this project in which there has been no fundamental alteration in the layout of the informative study submitted to public information and that the information presented in this regard in the opposite sense, are not true”.
