April 14, 2023. The delegate of the Government in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza, held today a meeting with the president of the Extremadura Hunting Federation (Fedexgato), José María Gallardo, to address the situation of poaching in the region and the concerns of the collective in this regard. In this meeting, the Chief General of the Civil Guard in Extremadura, Carlos Sarrión, also participated.
The Extremadura Hunting Federation showed its concern about a practice, that of poaching, which they consider to be increasingly widespread in recent months, with the consequences for biodiversity, heritage and the economy, which this entails.
In this regard, the government delegate explained that poaching is being pursued by the Security Forces, the Seprona in this case, whose work has been done so far this year with the detention of 18 people, 9 crimes and 91 infractions.
Despite this and the work that has already been done, the Government Delegation, the Civil Guard and Fedexgato have expressed their commitment to work together to prosecute crimes in the kinetic sector and furtivism in particular.
The Vice President of Fedexcaz,José Antonio Echávarri and the Colonel of the Civil Guard, José María Rángel, also participated in the meeting.
