The Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the Requena City Council, Mario Sánchez, has visited the reconstruction of the road and the structural rehabilitation of the bridge over the Magro river in El Pontón (Requena) affected by the dana. These actions are part of the works carried out by the Government of Spain for the recovery of the N-330 and N-332 damaged by the dana in Utiel and Requena in the province of Valencia and Talayuelas and Landete in the province of Cuenca to which about 12 million euros has been allocated.
The actions that are being developed on these two national roads by the Ministry of Transport are: on the N-332 at kilometer point 455 in El Pontón (Requena) and on the N-330 at kilometer points 192 and 194 in the municipality of Utiel and at kilometer points 230 and 236 in Talayuelas and Landete, respectively.
In the specific case of the structural rehabilitation of the bridge over the Magro River, a bridge of prefabricated concrete beams with a length of about 26 meters by more than 10 meters wide is being executed. In addition, a fence protection of the downstream slopes has been constructed.
The Government of Spain has allocated a total of more than 76 million euros to reconstruction after the Requena disaster, of which 35 million euros are to cover 100% of the repair of municipal infrastructures.
As far as the Ministry of Transport is concerned, the investment in the dana area reaches 400 million euros in the recovery of road and rail infrastructures, both those that are within the competence of the State and those that are within the competence of the local or the autonomous community itself. “The Government of Spain lent itself to help and collaborate and also to cover those expenses to make it even faster and easier. Therefore, permanent and constant commitment of the Government,” said Bernabé.
“The government leads the reconstruction”
“9 of every 10 euros invested in the dana area are from the Government of Spain that continues to lead the reconstruction”, stressed the delegate. In total, “it already represents a direct investment of more than 7 billion euros in the province of Valencia. More than 8.5% of the GDP of the entire province”, added
Bernabé pointed out that “there is no doubt that it is the Government of Spain that is today leading the recovery, almost a year after, of the tragedy that we Valencians suffered on October 29”.
