The CHJ allocates about one million euros to the repair of the Turia riverbed affected by the dana.

The section that affects the municipalities of Quart, Mislata and Xirivella is finished

The stretch between Xirivella and València is under execution. The works are expected to be completed before the end of this month

The delegate insists on the beginning of the political course: “the will of the Government is to work, work and work”

The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the works carried out by the Hydrographic Confederation of the Turia to repair the channel of the Turia affected by the dana between València and Xirivella.

The actions in the Turia have comprised two sections: the one that affects the municipalities of Quart, Mislata and Xirivella already finished and the one that is in execution between Xirivella and València. The investment planned for these actions is around one million euros.

The delegate reiterated that “the work is still ongoing. During the month of August the Government has not stopped working, and this is how it will continue to be, and we are going to face this beginning of the course with the will to work, work and work.”

Characteristics of the works

In the stretch that affects the municipalities of València and Xirivella, action is taken in 7,300 meters in length (6,100 m corresponding to the municipality of València and 1,200 to that of Xirivella). In this area, 2,300 m3 of material has been removed and 116,000 m3 have been excavated. The performances that began on June 17, will end before the end of September.

The section that affects the municipalities of Quart, Mislata and Xirivella is finished. It has acted in a stretch of 2,400 meters in length (1,350m corresponding to the municipality of Quart, 900 to the municipality of Mislata and 150 to the municipality of Xirivella). In this area, the service road and a low-water channel have been rebuilt. In addition, the accumulated drags on bridge stacks and other scattered debris have been removed. 3,100 m3 of material has been removed and 154,000 m3 excavated.

After finishing the cleaning work, the waterproofing actions of the sides of the riverbed will begin in the first half of 2026.

The Government of Spain, through the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar, has invested during these last months, 220 million euros in works of adaptation, cleaning of the channels “to be able to have them prepared and suitable for this season”. The delegate stressed that “all the obstacles that could be found in the channels have been collected, especially from all those who suffered the damage, but also, especially in rural areas, which was where it remained most, but protection in urban areas has also been improved”.
