The Special Traffic Operation 15 of August 2025 will take place in the Valencian Community between 16 hours of tomorrow Thursday, 14 of August, and 21 hours of Sunday, 17 of August. The General Directorate of Traffic has planned 7,040,000 long-distance journeys, of which 929,280 are in the area of the Valencian Community. In total, during the various summer special operations, there will be about 13.7 million trips on the roads of the Community.
The deputy delegate of the Government in Valencia and delegate of the Government in office, José Rodríguez, has made an appeal for the prudence of all drivers: “It is necessary to respect the speed set on each track, maintain safety distances, turn off the mobile and wear the safety belt or child restraint system well in the case of minors.” He has also considered it “fundamental” to rest every two hours in the case of long trips and remember the “zero tolerance with the consumption of alcohol and drugs at the wheel”.
In addition, as he added, the operation has “the total availability of means”, both human (agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, official personnel of the Traffic Management Centers, helicopter patrols and personnel in charge of the maintenance of equipment and the installation of measures on the road), as well as technicians (fixed radars and mobile speed control, in addition to helicopters, drones, cameras and camouflaged vans to control the use of mobile and the safety belt) available to the DGT.
Control and surveillance campaign on alcohol and drugs
During the last control and surveillance campaign on alcohol and drugs, carried out from 14 to 20 July 2025, 16,815 alcohol tests were carried out on the roads of the Valencian Community, with a total of 226 positive results.
In the province of Valencia, the number of “positive drivers” has increased by seven compared to the campaign carried out in December 2024, despite having reduced by more than 20% the number of tests carried out. However, in the Community as a whole, the values have stabilized.
With regard to the control of drug use in drivers in the Community, 682 tests were carried out between 14 and 20 July, of which 217 were positive.
In the Valencian Community as a whole, there is an upward projection, 40 more, of the number of “drivers with the presence of drugs in their body”, compared to last December’s campaign, mainly due to those detected in the province of Valencia, which represent an increase of 18.43%.
According to the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences (INTCF), “alcohol remains the substance detected mostly in deceased drivers, with a high proportion of cases in which a combined consumption of alcohol with other substances is detected”.
Operation Passage of the Strait
It should also be recalled that the Special Strait Crossing Operation, which constitutes an important movement of people by road, is in operation.
The start and end dates of OPE 2025 are, for the exit phase: from June 15 to August 15 and return from July 15 to September 15. Therefore, both phases would affect this Special Operation August 15, increasing the number of long-distance movements in the A7 and the AP.
