The Special Traffic Operation 1 August 2025 will take place in the Valencian Community between 16:00 hours on Thursday 31 July and 21:00 hours on Sunday 3 August. The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has planned 6,880,000 long-distance journeys, of which 965,264 correspond to the area of the Valencian Community. In total, during the two summer months, there will be about 14 million trips on the roads of the Community.
The Subdelegate of the Government in Valencia, José Rodríguez, has called for the responsibility of drivers, remembering that “road safety is a collective commitment that begins with each one of us”. He also stressed the importance of “planning the trip, respecting speed limits, avoiding distractions and not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
In addition, Rodríguez insisted on “maintaining the safety distance and making proper use of the lanes, using the left lane only to advance, in order to ensure fluidity”.
The last campaign, on the occasion of the festival of Santiago in other communities, recorded three fatalities in three accidents in the Valencian Community, two in Alicante and one in Castellón. The subdelegate has assured that “the Security Forces and Corps will work to ensure safety and fluidity on the roads” and has insisted on the importance of “complying with traffic rules to avoid victims”.
So far this year, 60 people have died on the roads of the Valencian Community, 5 more deaths than last year and in more than half of the fatal accidents, distraction, inadequate speed and alcohol and drugs were present. Between 1 and 27 July, eight people lost their lives on the roads of the Comunitat. They are two fewer fatalities than in the same period last year.
Operation Passage of the Strait
It should also be remembered that the Special Strait Crossing Operation, which constitutes a large movement of people by road, is in operation. In 2024, it allowed the passage of 3,442,770 people and 847,429 vehicles.
The start and end dates of OPE 2025 are, for the exit phase: from June 15 to August 15; and for the return phase: from July 15 to September 15. Therefore, both phases would affect this Special Operation 1 of August, increasing the number of long-distance movements in the A7 and the AP7.
