The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presented the 171 new civil guards in practice, of which 48 are women, for the province of Valencia, together with the General Head of the Sixth Zone of the Civil Guard in the Valencian Community, Arturo Prieto Bozec.
In this act, the delegate recalled that these new agents that will reinforce the special device of Operation Summer, “will remain in practice until they are promoted as professional guards.” They are students belonging to the 130th promotion of the School of Baeza (Jaén) and the 171st promotion of the College of Young Guards of Valdemoro (Madrid), which will be distributed in districts, “from Sagunt to Sueca, from Requena to Gandia or from Llíria to Paiporta”, he explained.
Bernabé stressed that “the arrival of these women and men of the Civil Guard in the province of Valencia strengthens, more if possible, security and confidence in the institutions.” And he pointed out that the incorporation of the 171 agents in practices represents a “substantial increase” of 9% compared to the incorporation of the previous year at the same dates.
In addition, the delegate has highlighted the incorporation of the 48 female civil guards: “Almost 30% of the people who join this year are women. In recent years we have seen an absolutely extraordinary increase, since we have gone from incorporating approximately 8% of women to almost 30%. It is great news that makes the Civil Guard body, with more than 170 years of history, more and more like the society it protects and represents.”
Bernabé thanked the public service life of the Benemérita in the province of Valencia, where “we have lived it especially in the dana of October 29. The women and men of the Civil Guard became the first heroes and heroines of the terrible tragedy. They went out to save as they could those who needed more help than anyone.”
“All my recognition and that of the entire Valencian Community to the Civil Guard, which every day improves and becomes more professional. And with which the Government of Spain is increasingly committed to increasing its staff and catalogue to serve, protect and maintain low crime rates.”
Operation Summer
In the Valencian Community, the Ministry of the Interior has established a total of 11,823 troops for Operation Summer, among which are part of the citizen security staff of the National Police and Civil Guard and their reinforcements. In the case of the province of Valencia, the total number of personnel for the summer operation is about 7,300, of which more than 5,300 are agents of the Civil Guard and about 2,000 of the National Police.
During these days, the latest promotions of agents who have passed the initial training process in the academies are being incorporated. These additions will make it possible to reinforce the planned deployment for Operation Summer that began on July 1 and will extend until August 31 in the Valencian Community. This operation includes the increase of surveillance in strategic points for tourism such as stations, ports, hotels, beaches and campsites.
