The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited together with the president of the State Society of Agrarian Infrastructures (SEIASA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Francisco Rodríguez Mulero, the actions of the Government of Spain after the dana for the recovery of rural roads and agrarian infrastructures of the districts of southern Valencia. These works represent an investment of 7.2 million euros “that will grow as more actions are demanded”, according to Bernabé.
The delegate has specified that the investment in rural roads amounts to about 5 million euros. Some 40 kilometres of 142 rural roads are used for road cleaning, preparation and construction of bases with tailings, paving with hot agglomeration, construction of concrete block walls or cleaning of ditches with mechanical means.
To this is added the aid that will be received by the communities of irrigators amounting to about 2 million euros to replenish about 10 kilometers of ditches.
The delegate also recalled “the mobilization of more than 8 million euros to compensate those farmers who this year due to the dana have not been able to harvest rice because their plots have not been activated for this season”.
In addition, the Government of Spain for Valencia has allocated about 138 million euros to cover 100% of the repair and/or reconstruction of municipal infrastructures.
This investment highlights “the absolute commitment of the Government of Spain to the reconstruction of Valencia”. “Reconstruction,” he added, “should serve not to stay as before, but to make us more resilient and better.” The reconstruction of the dana, he said, “is not only a formal commitment, it is a tangible reality and the southern districts are an example of how the Spanish Government has responded with facts.”
