The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has received the Valencian Society for the Promotion of the Canine Races and the Spanish Club of the Valencian Ratonero.
After this meeting, Bernabé indicated that “there is little praise for a Valencian woman than to be compared with the gos rater valencià”. Of this dog, the delegate stressed that “it was and is a fundamental element to understand the rural environment and the ecosystem of the marjal”. He said that it offers “monitoring and care of crops in the countryside”. “He’s not just a pet but a frontline worker,” he added.
The delegate thanked the Society for the Promotion of the Canine Races and the Club Rater Valencià for “the commendable work” to achieve the recognition of this race achieved in 2003, and formalized the following year. The Gos Rater “is part of the defense of a way of life, of ancestral traditions and of knowledge transmitted between generations”, he concluded.
