The Insurance Compensation Consortium of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise has paid 14,295 indemnities, for a cumulative amount of 216,204,836 € to the people affected by the consequences of the damage. In total, the Consortium has registered 225,332 claims for compensation, of which 215,136 (95.5% of the total) are located in the province of Valencia.
In the words of Pilar Bernabé, “the Valencians affected by this dana have already received more than 216 million euros from the Consortium in direct compensation. 40 million euros in the last 24 hours. But the Government of Spain will continue to work to increase that amount on a daily basis.”
The Consortium has mobilized more than 1,000 experts who have been assigned 209,442 files to collaborate with insurance companies in the management and evaluation of damages produced in vehicles, homes, commercial premises and offices. The initial estimate of damages remains at about 3.5 billion euros.
The government delegate wanted to remind all affected insured persons “that they can request compensation through the Consortium’s website and that it is highly recommended, alternatively, that this request be made through their own insurers”. The experts will initially contact the insured by telephone and, once the assessment of the damages has been received, after the appropriate checks and the complete file is in place, the Consortium will proceed to make the payment of compensation to the insured persons affected.
