The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has attended the start of the competitions of the XII Taekwondo Open of the Valencian Community that since yesterday is held at the Luis Puig Velodrome.
In this act, the delegate highlighted “the commitment of the Government to this sport” to which she has allocated grants amounting to almost €2.5M, in the financial year 2023 for the prevention of the National Plan of Sports Technification, or of the Team Spain programs; of the Aid to International Competitions; Women and Sport; or Inclusive Sport, among others.
Barnabas has also given his “support and strength to all Taekwondistan women, who are referents for those who come from behind, from sports schools”. “If women make up half of the population, it also has to be noticed in sport,” he added. To date, in the Valencian Federation - Bernabé stressed - more women than men are federated.
More than 1,500 athletes participate in this championship, coming from 100 clubs throughout Spain and representatives of more than 100 categories. Nearly 4,000 people are expected to attend “this indispensable event that consolidates the national and regional calendar of this sport,” said the delegate.
