The General Director of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Virginia Barcones, has presented the Group of Volunteers of Civil Protection of Tavernes de la Valldigna, coinciding with its thirtieth anniversary, of the Bronze Medal of Merit of Civil Protection, with Red badge. The event was also attended by the delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, and the mayor of the municipality, Lara Romero.
“Receiving the Medal of Merit for Civil Protection is not only a recognition of the daily work, but also of the dedication, effort and dedication of all the volunteers who have been part of this group,” said Barcones during the event.
For his part, Pilar Bernabé thanked the group for “the spirit of sacrifice, in defense of the population and its goods, without taking into account their own benefit or discomfort”. Bernabé has recognized that the “National Civil Protection System is an accurate and indispensable tool for the progress of society.” As he said, it is a “machine that is oiled to give a quick response and intervention where required and makes coordination between administrations easy”.
