· The delegate presides over the tribute ceremony to the Valencian poet, together with the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi España, mayors, councillors and different groups
· The poet’s daughter, Carmina Andrés, attended this event
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, presided over the act of tribute to the poet of Burjassot, Vicent Andrés Estellés, held at the headquarters of the Government Delegation. The Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi España, together with mayors, councilors and different cultural groups and entities, as well as the poet’s daughter, Carmina Andrés and the poet Marc Granell, among others, attended this event.
Bernabé has claimed “the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to the Valencian poet”. An implication that, as he said, “is absolute” in the Estellés Year “to remember his figure and his work that transcend the thresholds of our territory”. Paying tribute to Estellés, he said, “is the least we can do from the Government Delegation, which opens its doors wide to the whole of Valencian society” in the face of the “hurtful silence or conscious contempt for the Valencian culture of other institutions”.
The delegate highlighted the figure of Estellés who “cultivated simple but vibrant poetry, made for the people, but from the people, vindicating and identitarian”. This “worker of the word in Valencian” leaves us a “legacy that contains the urgent encouragement for us to assume, courageously, the voice of our people”.
The Government of Spain, Bernabé recalled, has promoted in the year in which the centenary of the birth of the poet is commemorated:
- The talks held at the Ateneo de Madrid on Vicent Andrés Estellés.
- In collaboration with the City of Oliva, the 19th edition of the poetry festival Poefesta, dedicated to Estellés.
- In collaboration with the City of Gandia, the poetic recital Voices that recite Estellés.
- In collaboration with the City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi (Alicante) and the College of Librarians and Documentalists of the Valencian Community, a few days were organized in the libraries on the life and work of the author.
- Tribute at the Cervantes Institute, on September 4 (the day of his birth), depositing a sample of his legacy in the Box of Letters of the institution.
- On the same day, a website dedicated to Estellés was also launched.
- Dissemination of his work in other languages and the extension of the Estellés Year to the Guadalajara Book Fair (Mexico) in December, where Spain is the guest country.
- Support for the central concert of the anniversary, which was held on September 7, in Burjassot (Valencia).
- At the same time, it has granted a grant of €200,000 to the Cent d’Estellés Platform to carry out activities on the occasion of the Any Estellés.
