The Government of Spain mobilizes 7,191 million euros in the Valencian Community in the first half of 2024

The Government of Spain has mobilized 7,191 million euros in the Valencian Community in the first six months of the year. According to the delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, “the Government of Pedro Sánchez allocates more money to the Community than ever”, highlighting the investments in infrastructure in recent months, such as “the execution of 580 million euros in the Mediterranean Corridor, the 600 million euros for the expansion of the Alicante airport or the 2.6 billion euros for the railway transformation of València. And we’re not going to stop.”

“This government has not stopped, in these months, with the purpose of advancing and modernizing our Comunitat to combat injustices and improve the quality of life of Valencians”, assures Pilar Bernabé, who adds: “We present figures that dismantle the false comparative grievance that others sell.”

The accountability report of the Government of Spain for the first half of the year in the Valencian Community amounts to 2,626 million euros of Next Generation funds executed directly by the State in the Community, “to which are added 2,520.8 million euros allocated for the deployment of investments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan within the scope of the competences of the Community”, as highlighted by the delegate of the Government. In total, “the Next Funds have mobilized 6.4 billion euros in six months in the Valencian Community, keys to building the future we deserve”, he adds.

In particular, 30 projects are being developed in the Community and 71,254 companies, institutions and individuals have benefited. Among other projects, the regenerating plant on the left bank of Segura, the Aeronautical Technology Program for the development of MIURA 5, the Volkswagen Gigafactory and the investments in the Port of Valencia stand out.

Bernabé says that “we can boast of being the community with the most public works tendered, ahead of Madrid and Catalonia. In fact, the Government of Pedro Sánchez triples in the Comunitat the tenders of the Consell.” A clear example, said the delegate “of the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to this land, which will also receive the unpublished figure of 16 billion euros: the Ministry of Finance will transfer about 14 billion euros of account deliveries for the year 2025, to which 2 billion of the liquidation of 2023 are added”.

Improving access to housing

In terms of housing policies, the central government has allocated a total of 356.6 million euros to the Comunitat in the last six months. From the beginning of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan in 2021 and until April of this year, the Valencian Community has received 108.2 million euros for the construction of 2,363 homes within the framework of the Program of construction of homes for social rent in energy-efficient buildings. In fact, in the last semester the construction of 685 homes for social rent in energy-efficient buildings has been agreed.

The delegate assures that “the Government of Spain is going to defend the constitutional right of access to decent housing and, therefore, has allocated 42 million euros of the State Housing Plan 2022-2025 in subsidies for aid to rent vulnerable groups, increase the public housing stock and for the promotion of housing rehabilitation this year”. In this sense, it is committed to the collaboration of all the administrations, “each within the framework of its competences, to activate all the mechanisms that allow the right to housing”.

Fair ecological transition

Barnabas insists that “the development of all policies must be linked to a necessary just ecological transition. Therefore, the Government has allocated 257.5 million euros to our community during this semester. An amount of which, for example, SEIASA has executed 5.8 million euros in investments in modernization of irrigation and has signed agreements with the irrigation communities worth 23.8 million euros.”

In addition, the SEIASA is developing actions in the Royal Júcar Park worth 40.71 million euros, in a work that “plans to achieve up to 37% water savings that can be transferred to the Albufera Natural Park and benefit more than 1,500 families in this irrigated area,” said the delegate of the Government.

Equality between women and men

“One of the key policies for this government is real equality between men and women. And with the aim of consolidating Spain as a reference in this matter, the Government has allocated 30.9 million euros to the Valencian Community for the fight against gender violence, the Joint Responsibility Plan or the supplements to reduce the gender gap in maternity and retirement pensions”, said the delegate, who has taken the opportunity to reiterate her request for coordination between administrations “in the fight against male terrorism”.

Social Shield

So far this year, 200,830 people have benefited in the Valencian Community from the Minimum Vital Income and 941,065 pensioners have seen their pensions revalued. The Government of Spain has given impetus to school attendance from zero to three years with 14.1 million euros and opted for the modernization of Vocational Training with 17.5 million euros.

The delegate of the Government concludes that “the Valencians have received almost 9 million euros for the protection of the family and the care of child poverty, 11.6 million euros for Social Services, more than 109 million euros in care policies and more than 68 million euros within the framework of the Plan of Shock of the Unit”. With the policies of the Government of Spain, says Bernabé, “the Welfare State has flourished again and is strengthened. We are working to combat the many injustices suffered by Valencians and Valencians.”
