The Palace of the Temple in Valencia, headquarters The Government Delegation in the Valencian Community, has hosted the institutional event on the occasion of the International Day of LGTBI+ Pride. An event in which the delegate of the Government, Pilar Bernabé, wanted to point out “the importance of not taking a step backwards in equality or in rights for the LGTBI+ collective”. A group that, Bernabé stressed, “is present in the progressive policies that the Government of Spain prioritizes, in the face of the lack of sensitivity of other administrations”.
Echoing the institutional declaration of the Ministry of Equality, the delegate of the Government has assured that the Government of Spain renews with acts like this “its commitment to institutional recognition and participation in the commemorative acts of the fight for the real and effective equality of LGTBI+ people” and has wanted to add that “the promotion and protection of the rights of LGTBI+ people throughout the world are priorities of the Spanish foreign policy in the field of human rights”.
The institutional act has begun with the display of the LGBTI+ Pride flag on the facade of the Government Delegation. Then, the coordinator of the Lambda association, Fran Fernández, moderated a round table, in which the general director for the Real and Effective Equality of LGTBI People, Julio del Valle, participated; the actresses Geena Román and Alma Gormedino; and the lawyer Marta Sans. The event was also attended, among others, by the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spain.
