The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has closed the equality days of UGT, "Participation and leadership for a feminist unionism". In this act, Barnabas highlighted the role “of feminist unionism as an indisputable protagonist of the advances achieved and the rights won”. In this line, he added that “women and our rights advance much more when at the head of our trade union organizations we have women”. For this reason, she said, “it is essential to build and promote women’s leadership and to claim the importance of the participation of women in leadership positions in organizations.” In this way, “courageous debates are put on the table, with a feminist outlook that helps to achieve real and effective equality between men and women.”
The delegate also recalled that “one in four laws promoted by the Government of Pedro Sánchez has contributed to gender equality.” In addition, only in the Valencian Community the equality policies of the Government of Spain “have had an impact on tens of thousands of women. And it will continue to be so thanks to the investment of 31 million euros in 2024 for the fight against gender violence and for the promotion of equality.” In this sense, he has indicated that “putting an end to male violence must be a goal shared by all administrations.” Although, “seeing how in some autonomous communities there are governments that question gender violence, equating it with violence against men or facilitating access to public subsidies to a so-called Foundation of Abused Men, does not help”.
The Government of Spain, he said, “is very concerned about the backward steps that may occur due to a negationist government, but what is clear is that the central Executive will be the containment dam for policies against battered women that may apply PP and Vox.”
