The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has held a working meeting with representatives of the Federació d'Associacions Veïnals de València and with the Confederació d'Associacions Veïnals de la Comunitat Valenciana (CAVE COVA) in which the situation in which some of the infrastructures of the Community are located such as the prolongation of the Serrería tunnel or the expansion of the airport of Valencia has been analyzed.
In the case of the Serrería tunnel in València, the Government of Spain “in its part fully agrees that the Serrería roads can be buried” but, added the delegate, “what cannot be ignored is that these actions are an urban operation of the city and that it is the city council that has the competence to lead these interventions”. Therefore, “the ball is in the hands of the City Council that has the competence to develop the city urbanistically”.
Currently, the Government of Spain is investing more than 500 million euros in the railway sector in the city of Valencia, both with the Access Channel and with the Intermodal railway of the Fuente de San Luis. To them, Barnabas indicated, is added all the investment that will be produced with the Through Tunnel that is “an inalienable action and that will culminate the Mediterranean Corridor”. At this point, he recalled that “the PP voted against introducing the Mediterranean Corridor within the Trans-European Transport Network”. For this reason, he has indicated that “works are loves and not good reasons: he cannot ask and at the same time, voting against the interests of Valencians in Europe”.
Expansion of airports
The delegate has transferred to the neighborhood associations that Aena will undertake the expansion of the terminals at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport and the Valencia Airport. For this, an investment of more than 1,000 M€ is foreseen between both airports. From the total, the airport of Valencia will receive an investment of 400M€.
This investment is an extension of the airport terminal building, said Bernabé, who added that it is “an extension of the terminal building. No expansion of the airfield is planned, but it is an adaptation, modernization and improvement of the airport infrastructure.” It is an “extension of the terminal building to adapt it to the times in which we live to improve the experience of visitors who come to our city and the Valencian Community”.
