The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, who has presided over the local security board held in Petrer on the occasion of the festivities of Moors and Christians of this town and of Elda, has announced that “350 members of the National Police will be deployed, first in Petrer and then in the festivities in Elda, to guarantee the security of these celebrations that are expected multitudinous”. To this mobilization of National Police personnel will be added the agents of the local police of the two municipalities and those of the Civil Guard who are responsible for the authorization and monitoring of the distribution of gunpowder. As announced by Barnabas, 1,230 kilos of gunpowder have been authorized in Petrer for this year and 610 people have the relevant permits for the use of pyrotechnic material. In the case of Elda, there are authorized about 1,090 kilos of gunpowder and also 610 accredited people. The agents of the Civil Traffic Guard will also carry out checks on access roads to cities and interurban roads to “guarantee zero tolerance in the consumption of alcohol and drugs at the wheel. “
In addition, the delegate has advanced that the Family and Women Care Unit of the National Police (UFAM) will be present in the two localities “to care for any woman who may feel herself a victim of aggression.” The delegate has appealed to “the responsibility of all people who can be like a violet dot and denounce any situation of danger.” In this regard, he recalled that the Government of Spain also puts in place complaint mechanisms against attacks such as the telephone 016 to the Alertcops app.
In short, Barnabas said, it is a “great mobilization of troops of the State Security Forces and Corps in collaboration and coordination with the local troops”.
