The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has held a working meeting with the mayor of Sagunt, Darío Moreno, for the monitoring of the road infrastructures that the Government develops in this city. After this meeting, the delegate stressed that the Government of Spain “is committed to improving the road connections of an extremely important industrial and logistical hub for the economy of Spain and the Valencian Community such as Sagunto”.
Therefore, the Government of Spain, said Bernabé, will invest about 90 million euros in the connectivity of the A-23 Motorway with the V-23 Motorway and with the AP-7/A-7 Motorway. The delegate pointed out that this project “is a historical demand of the municipality, which now has a special relevance given the expectations of growth by the installation of the Volkswagen gigafactory”. This action will improve the connectivity of the environment of Sagunt and the Port of Sagunt with the State Road Network, both to the interior and north of the country, through the A-23, and to the Mediterranean Corridor through the A-7 and the AP-7.” In addition, another of the improvements that the work also contemplates is to be able to solve the capacity problems, in the part of the AP-7/A-7 that runs between the A-23 and Sagunt north.
Bernabé has announced that the splitting of the so-called by-pass of Sagunt at the confluence of the AP7 with the A7 “that could be a grievance to the territory of the municipality” is ruled out and is committed to “expand the already existing one with one lane per direction, so that the 4 lanes in this area will be reached”. “This is great news, to respond to a historical demand of the municipality and its mayor that will improve the connectivity and competitiveness of a city that looks to the future,” he said.
The delegate has indicated the Government of Spain wants to “accompany industrial growth with the improvement of road connections, but also that this increase in traffic, must have the least possible impact on the population”. Therefore, an acoustic screen will be installed to protect and avoid discomfort to the CEIP San Cristòfol and the Albanta Special Education Center.
