· The project creates a new landscaped pedestrian space in Manises that will connect the two areas of the municipality on both sides of the current N-220
· The capacity of the N-220 will be increased with two lanes per direction, which will improve the fluidity of the track
· The intervention will also facilitate access to the Fuente del Jarro de Paterna polygon
· This project plus the complementary works represent an investment of more than 94M€
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the works duplication of the roadway of the N-220 access to the airport of Valencia. A project that, according to him, shows that “the Government of Spain is once again committed to the Valencian Community, its municipalities, companies, strategic infrastructures and the quality of life of the people”.
These actions will improve the fluidity of traffic and road safety of the N-220 access “to a strategic infrastructure such as the Valencia airport” while “radically changing the physiognomy of the city of Manises that will gain a playful and sporting green space and coexistence, more habitable and healthier”, said Bernabé. In addition, this action “will mean the improvement of communications between industrial estates such as Fuente del Jarro, promoting the competitiveness of companies and their connectivity”.
Features of the work
The intervention of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility “will mean a substantial improvement in access to the airport, said Bernabé. The project aims to increase the capacity of the current N-220 road by duplicating it on two roads with two lanes per direction, which will avoid “traffic jams at peak times on this stretch of road”. In addition, it will result in a link between the V-30 motorway in the by-pass direction and Manises Airport and will favor the cyclopedestrian connection with the airport “linking it with the urban center of Manises with a triple safe itinerary for pedestrians and cyclists”.
Manises, said the delegate, will have a landscaped space of 20,000 m2, with sports areas and children's playground, which aims to "give full road and pedestrian connection between the two areas of the municipality on both sides of the current N-220". In addition, the coverage of the road of the current N-220 and the grounding of road traffic will lead to a significant reduction in noise for the residents of the area.
Also, the access to the industrial estate Fuente del Jarro de Paterna will also be improved by the construction of two collecting lanes on the link of the V-30. In addition, a new road access is built, through the current link of Manises–Paterna, which replaces the one that already existed, through the service path of the V-30.
Complementary works
The delegate recalled that last Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport awarded the complementary works for 3.8 million euros to double the N-220 access to the Valencia airport. These actions will consist of the improvement of the connecting branch to allow the direct movement of vehicles from the V-11 to the A-3 in the direction of Madrid. “This will improve the road safety of this link, preventing the passage through the current roundabout,” said Bernabé.
Both actions have involved an investment by the Government of Spain that exceeds 94 million euros.
