The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the performances that Adif develops in the building of València Estació del Nord to preserve its historical and architectural heritage.
The works that have an investment of € 17.7 million have the objective, according to Bernabé, to value “its original architecture, preserve the centenary property and its functionality for the railway service”. In this regard, the delegate has pointed out that actions such as this “which is the most important that Adif is carrying out after the works in Atocha, show that the Government preserves “the historical and architectural heritage” of the C.Valenciana. The renovation of the Estació del Nord is “an integral rehabilitation of roof and façade” which, according to the delegate, “is carried out without affecting passengers and the railway service of a station that receives one million passengers a month”.
This performance will renew the roof of the historic marquee and “recover the different original ornamental elements”, said the delegate.
The renovation and modernization of the structure of the historic marquee that covers the platforms of the station -200 m in length, 45 in width and an area of about 9,000 m2- replaces the current roof with a new one of zinc and, in its upper part, incorporates materials that allow the passage of light to reinforce luminosity and natural lighting. Among the operations, there is the disassembly and removal of the asbestos plates from the roof, carried out by a specialized company, “under the requirements contemplated in the regulations”.
Prior to the main phase, previous work was carried out, such as the implementation of the construction camp, the rearrangement of the circulation of taxis and the reconfiguration of the parking at the station.
