The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has attended the inauguration of the new base of operations of the British company EasyJet at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport. With these facilities, there are four bases that EasyJet has in Spain.
In this act, Bernabé pointed out that “today is a day of happiness for the Valencian Community and, more specifically, for the province of Alicante”. “It is a day when it is important to know that in the Valencian Community, all administrations, regardless of political color, collaborate to ensure the growth of the province of Alicante.” In this sense, the Government of Spain “works in a loyal and coordinated way with all administrations to guarantee the best infrastructures for the Alicante-Elche airport”.
The delegate highlighted “the commitment” of the Government of Spain to sustainable connectivity. For the Central Executive, “the railway connection of the airport of Alicante with the city is a fundamental action”. Therefore, he recalled that it was incorporated as a priority work within the Trans-European Transport Network. “As the delegate said, it is a strategic project that receives Next Generation funds and that, as such, will be completed in 2030.”
In relation to the expansion of the airport, the delegate has indicated, as already pointed out by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, that “the Government is committed to the development of the airport, and therefore will act when the technicians of AENA require it.”
