More than 2,600 troops will ensure the security of the Moorish and Christian festivities of Alcoi, “in an important device” resulting from “collaboration and coordination” of the different security forces” to guarantee “safe festivities”, according to the delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé.
Bernabé has chaired the local security board held in Alcoi on the occasion of the celebration of its patron saint’s parties together with the mayor of the city, Toni Frances. This meeting was also attended by representatives of the different security forces involved to coordinate the different devices with which to guarantee the safety of “the thousands of people” participating in the celebrations.
Bernabé has indicated that the troops that make up the security device will pay “special attention” to the main events of these festivities in which “a multitudinous influx” is expected. Thus, the State forces - National Police and Civil Guard - will be joined by agents of Civil Protection, Local Police, Firefighters, Red Cross personnel, health areas and personnel of the festeras associations.
The aim of this device, said Barnabas, is to guarantee the security of the acts and the participants in them, to control the crimes that may occur especially in the extra-radius and industrial estates and the prevention and control of sexual crimes. In this last point, the delegate has highlighted, “as a novelty” and in coordination with the four violet points that the city has, the participation of UFAM agents who will work with the Local Police and health services.
