· The most serious crimes have been reduced. Only the reports linked to cybercrime have increased
· The Government delegate points out that at the moment “the origin and distribution channels of illegal pyrotechnic products are being investigated”
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, stressed that the devices deployed by the State Security Forces and Corps in Fallas 2024, “have allowed us to enjoy safe holidays in which the reported events in relation to last year have been reduced by an average of 15%.”
The balance has been “positive” in relation to last year with “a notable decrease in the whole scale of crimes especially in the most serious ones – sexual assaults or thefts”. “The only thing that does rise,” said Bernabé, “are the crimes linked to credit card scams and cybercrime.”
More than 2,600 agents of the State Security Forces and Corps have been part of the extraordinary security device of Fallas in the city of Valencia. To the agents who regularly patrol the city, displaced units from other provinces have been added. The National Police have also performed specific services coinciding with the main events of the festivities. The Civil Guard has controlled traffic, pedanías, critical infrastructure and pyrotechnic products.
Precisely, at the moment the Civil Guard “is investigating” the origin of those companies that have been able “illegally to traffic in pyrotechnic material”. In this regard, the delegate said that “investigations will continue to find out where the irregular pyrotechnic material comes from and what the distribution channels have been”.
The objective of the security devices deployed by the Government Delegation has been to meet all the needs in terms of security and surveillance of agglomerations. To this end, it has counted on the collaboration and coordination of the different Security Forces and Bodies.
