The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, together with the mayor of Alcoi, Antonio Frances, to the commissioning of the roundabout of the N-340.
This work is part of the plan of humanization of crossings that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is undertaking in the Valencian Community. A plan that aims to make more friendly and safe urban environments that are next to roads that support a large volume of traffic and that pass through the middle of a municipal term.
This action, which has had an investment of 1M€, has turned this road not only into a safer road with the new roundabout but also “constitutes a bet for the decarbonization of mobility thanks to the integration and extension of the bike path” that will link the city center with the polygon of Cotes Baixes.
“It is – as the delegate said – a clear example of the Government’s commitment to the city of Alcoi to humanize the crossing, prioritizing sustainable mobility to meet the objectives set by the 2030 Agenda.” Bernabé has highlighted the work carried out in Alcoi against “certain municipalities that have taken a step backwards in sustainability”.
With this action, the construction of new sidewalks has also been undertaken, new lighting has been installed and a park area has been enabled.
This is “another clear example of institutional collaboration for the benefit of people.” In fact, as Bernabé recalled, “this project was initially drafted by the City Council but has been assumed by the Government of Spain”.
In addition, the delegate has pointed out that the Government will begin this year the renovation works of the Xàtiva -Alcoi line with an investment of €117M, which will help “this city continue to be an industrial and social reference of the Valencian Community”.
