The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has held a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev. Barnabas pointed out that in this meeting “fundamental issues” have been analyzed for Ukraine “a country that is suffering a cruel and unjust war on the part of Russia”.
The delegate of the Government recalled that the Valencian Community has been one of the autonomous communities that has received more people from Ukraine. According to the data provided by Bernabé, in the Valencian Community more than 56,000 protections have been declared, more than 12,000 Ukrainian people are in the Social Security system working in the Comunitat and more than 13,000 Ukrainian schoolchildren are in schools in Castellón, Valencia and Alicante, the latter being the province that has received the most Ukrainians.
At the same time, Barnabas highlighted “the importance” of the revision of the Trans-European Transport Regulation (TEN-T), which will extend the Mediterranean Corridor to Ukraine. This will allow, said Bernabé, to strengthen the relationship between “two fundamental ports such as Valencia and Odessa”. In this regard, the delegate pointed out that the Valencian Community “must contribute to the reconstruction of Odessa”.
