The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presented together with the superior head of the National Police, Jorge Marti, the security device of the Christmas campaign and Secure Trade. The operation that will be carried out until January 6, will be composed, according to Bernabé, by 3,400 members of the National Police in the Valencian Community, By provinces, 1,900 agents will be part of this operation in the province of Valencia; 1,000 in the province of Alicante and 500 for the province of Castellón. This mechanism will pay special attention to the commercial areas with the greatest influx and to the transport infrastructures in collaboration and coordination with the local police.
According to the delegate, “these are days of an important massification derived from Christmas shopping”. For this reason, “the most concentrated commercial areas and public transport infrastructures will be attended to to avoid crimes”. The operation will be made up of “uniformed and civilian” troops, he added.
At the same time, a safe trade guide “very intuitive and useful, to inform the steps to follow in the face of any type of crime” will be distributed among merchants and citizens. Barnabas recalled that the State Security Forces and Corps will, during these days, be especially vigilant to combat cybercrime, “a type of crime that has increased in recent times.” Likewise, all measures derived from level 4 of anti-terrorist alert are maintained and, in parallel, the DGT campaign of surveillance and control of alcohol and drugs in drivers continues until December 17.
Bernabé who presented this operation in the city of València highlighted that “the crime data of the city have decreased in relation to last year contrary to what has happened in other large Spanish cities”. For this reason, he has highlighted “the effort of the Government of Spain to increase the number of troops and ensure that in the city of València there are more National Police agents than ever”.
