The Government Delegation in the Valencian Community organizes and participates, during this week, in a dozen events on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The central event will be the presentation of the ‘Meninas 2023’ distinctions, presided over by the Delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, today, November 20, at 6:00 p.m. at the Teatro Talia de València.
The accolades went to the philosopher, Celia Amorós; the jurist of the Women’s Center 24hs of Castellón, Matilde Pallares; the lieutenant and responsible for the area of crimes against the people of the Civil Guard of València, Estefanía García; the chief inspector of the ODAM of València, Jaime Cuenca and the associations Por ti Mujer y Mujeres Vecinal of Elche.
Today Pilar Bernabé has displayed on the facade of the Government Delegation the commemorative banners of the 25N.
For its part, the General Directorate of the Civil Guard celebrates the delivery of the III Recognitions of the Civil Guard in the fight against violence against women for the first time outside Madrid, choosing València as host city. The event will take place at the Catholic University of Valencia, on Tuesday, 21, at 5:00 p.m. In it, five awards will be given for actions carried out between September 2022 and August 31, 2023, except for honorary recognition that honors a singular trajectory or an action with great impact.
On Wednesday the activities continue, in Alicante, with the conference “Advances against gender violence”, moderated by Modes Salazar, head of the Unit against Violence on Women of the Subdelegation of the Government in Alicante. The speakers will be: Pilar Bernabé, delegate of the Government; Verónica Gómez, inspector of National Police and Mar Esquembre, professor of Constitutional Law.
The institutional events on the occasion of the 25N will take place on Thursday 23 November, at 12:00 hours, in Alicante and on Friday 24 at the same time in Castellón and at 12:30 hours in València. These are commemorative events in memory of the victims of male violence so far this year: 52 women victims of death in Spain, five of them in the Valencian Community, on November 16, 2023.
In addition, the exhibition ‘Image and word to create awareness’ can be visited at the Culture Centre of Benifaió until November 26 and from November 27, and until December 3, at the House of Culture and Espai Jove of Rafelbunyol. This sample is composed of 15 roll ups, which contain a compilation of the prevention and awareness campaigns against gender violence, which has been prepared by the Government Delegation since 2006 and which show the evolution of these and their different approaches.
Finally, in Castellón, the prizes of the V edition of the Drawing Contest against Gender Violence will be awarded, in which the students of the schools of the province have participated.
