The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has met with the president of the Union of Peridistes Valencians, Vicent Marco, and the vice-president, José Luis Obrador, to address the situation and needs of journalists in the coverage of concentrations and demonstrations, “in a time of very complicated tension”.
Barnabas and Marco have dealt with the attacks that took place last Sunday in the uncommunicated rally called by the ultra-right in front of the headquarters of the socialist party. In this regard, the delegate of the Government has pointed out that “a fence has already been installed to ensure that the workers of the press have a safe space and with protection from the Police”.
And he stressed that “the National Police will guarantee the safety of all people who want to demonstrate and all professionals who want to work to report these concentrations.”
For his part, Marco has indicated that “from the Union of Journalists we are satisfied with the response received from the Government Delegation to our request that the right to information and security of all professionals covering the demonstrations be guaranteed. The delegate has told us that the security zone will be applied in all demonstrations in Castellón, València and Alicante, so that journalists have a safe area from which to report. All in the interest of not repeating what happened last Sunday.”
