The delegate of the Government gives the distinctions of the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions to officials of the Social Insertion Center Torres Espioca de Picassent

The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has delivered the medals of the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions to various employees of the Torres Espioca Social Center of Picassent on the occasion of the celebration of Merced Day, patron of prisoners and prison staff.

“This recognition would not be possible without the indispensable task that, as servants and public servants, all the people who make up the prison staff perform. A necessary work for the correct development of centers such as Picassent,” said Bernabé.

The delegate highlighted the involvement of staff to ensure that the Spanish penitentiary system is “a benchmark for other countries” and “one of the most effective in the European Union”. “80% of people released from prison do not re-commit crimes, a figure that demonstrates their inclusive success,” he concluded.
