The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visited this morning Xixona (Alicante) on the occasion of the celebration of its festivities of Moors and Christians 2023, which began last Tuesday, day 15, and end next Thursday 24.
Throughout the morning, Barnabas has attended different events. First, he went to the traditional Mass in San Sebastián, one of the town’s two patrons. At the end, he was part, together with the local authorities, of a festive parade that ended in the town hall.
Finally, he has visited the different kábilas, where he has been able to enjoy the great atmosphere and the hospitality of its members.
The Moors and Christians festival in Xixona is one of the oldest in the province of Alicante, with more than 230 years of history. They are declared Festivals of Regional Tourist Interest in the Comunitat, as well as Good of Intangible Local Relevance.
